Welcome. This is the place where I share my writing, my conversations, and the work I’m building around one big idea: shared prosperity for economic democracy.

For the past 25 years I’ve been a teacher, entrepreneur, and systems builder. My path has taken me from classrooms in the South Bronx and Oakland to launching hundreds of Black and Brown-owned businesses, to designing the first Shared Prosperity Community Corporation. Along the way I’ve been trying to answer the same question in different ways: how do we create an economy where work leads to ownership, dignity, and agency for everyone?

This Substack is where I’ll keep bringing those pieces together.

If you subscribe, you’ll get:

  • Essays – reflections and analysis drawn from my newsletter archives, book drafts, and white paper.

  • Podcasts and Interviews – conversations with people who are building and imagining new models of prosperity.

  • Updates from the Field – what I’m learning in real time as we run pilots in Stockton, Oakland, and beyond.

  • Resources – articles, books, and tools that help frame the bigger picture.

Who I Hope to Reach

Entrepreneurs, educators, policymakers, funders, students, neighbors — anyone who cares about building something better than the economy we’ve inherited.

This is not a finished model, it’s a work in progress. I’m sharing my thinking, my mistakes, and my lessons as they happen. My hope is that it sparks connection and conversation, and that together we can make prosperity something we all share in.
